La Tour Cafe - Honolulu, Hawaii
La Tour Cafe is a French / Italian - Vietnamese cafe located next to Lowe's on Ala Moana Boulevard. I have a strong suspicion that they are owned by the owners of Bale restaurants, because they sell a lot of the same baked goods you find at Bale's open market booths.
The fries here are generally good. Nice and crispy, and not super greasy. BUT, they had way too much salt on them! I think next time if we eat here we'll ask them to not salt them. They had too much pepper for my wife, but I didn't mind the pepper.
The fries were cut just a little bit bigger than McD's fries (which are the standard). They are pretty good as far as cafe fries go.
They were served with a side of creamy sauce that was a little tangy - kind of like an Italian dressing aioli. I preferred these fries with ketchup though.

Kiawe Grill - Aiea, Hawaii

Kiawe Grill is a restaurant that serves a mix of local Hawaii plate lunch style plates, combined with some Korean dishes and side dishes. They have a great selection of exotic meats like buffalo, ostrich and venison, in addition to regular grilled beef, pork, lamb, chicken and fish.
The fries here are large skinless pieces (not triangular wedges like KFC), which reminded me of the old Big Way Burger in Wahiawa. We had the plain fries and the garlic fries. The garlic fries only had a hint of garlic, not like the super raw strong garlic like Gordon Biersch fries. I rate em 7 stars out of 10, but only if you like steak fries.
